The Stages of Spinal Degeneration.

Vertebrae are smooth, healthy and well aligned.

Curvature is normal and there is equal spacing between the vertebrae.

The openings (neural foramina) between the vertebrae allow the nerves to exit freely without interference.

Stage I:

Reduced mobility prevents  fluid to pump in and out of the discs, leading to drying, thinning, and diminished support.

Loss of curvature and possible nerve damage due to narrowing of the neural foramina.

Pain and fatigue are likely symptoms.

This stage is often reversible.

Stage II:

There is a significant loss of spinal curve and disc space.

Loss of energy and reduced height are probable symptoms.

Bones adapt to applied forces, leading to deformations like calcium deposits and bone spurs (osteophytes).

Stage III:

Cartilage and bone are degenerating leading to bone fusion and joint immobilization, preventing turning, bending, and twisting.

There is irreparable nerve damage and constant pain and discomfort are common.

This stage is usually irreversible.

Receiving chiropractic care in time is key to prevent, reverse or stop spinal degeneration.
